Sable Taylor, vampire and bounty hunter extraordinaire, tracks down and hauls in
criminals strictly for the money. She's damn good at her job, even if she is known to bend the rules to succeed. The only thorn in her side is Derek Atkinson, a Special Task Force agent, who simply because of his job, is her direct competition. Their frequent meetings over a two year period result in Sable's contempt for Derek's arrogance and her anger and disgust at losing much needed income. Also scornful of Derek's lothario reputation, Sable snubs him at every turn.
Derek is a Master vampire, and he has been watching and wanting Sable for much too
long. He has desired this stubborn and infuriating woman with a need that he's never felt before. Now he's tired of waiting, and decides to take matters into his own hands and force Sable to acknowledge the fiery attraction that blazes between them. Maneuvering Sable into a situation where he has the upper hand, Derek attempts to slowly break down the walls surrounding Sable's heart.
Although she succumbs to Derek's passionate nature, Sable resists getting too involved. While her heart is set on Derek, her mind knows that he will eventually leave her in disgust. You see, Sable has a secret. And when Derek learns who she really is, and what she's after, Sable knows he will turn from her in loathing. But maybe Derek has hidden agendas of his own. So, who is misleading who?
Misled was my very first Sylvia Day book and I was completely captivated from the first page! I stayed awake well past midnight, refusing to put this book down until it was finished. The interaction and character dynamics of Sable and Derek had me on a rollercoaster of emotions from beginning to end. Both characters are strong and capable, and the sparks fly between them in every scene, from arguing to lovemaking. And speaking of lovemaking, break out the ice-cubes... you'll need them to cool down. Derek shifts between tender loving and animalistic sex so smoothly that he had my heart pumping. Hat's off to you, Ms. Day! Misled is a hot, fun, and exciting read. I mean HOT!
